Sound Piano Servicing is built upon a shared vision; a commitment to the highest possible standards.
Our experience working in manufacturing helped shape our approach. The volumes of pianos we have set up for the UK market demanded speed, accuracy and efficiency. We have both undergone rigorous testing at the Yamaha Piano Technical Academy, each course being 5-weeks long, where tuning, regulation, damper work and voicing are examined.
In turn, we have both taught numerous professional technicians from around the UK and continue to share and swap knowledge with our peers.
CLAIRE BYRNE
After completing her technical training at Newark Piano School, Claire apprenticed with The Edinburgh Piano Company, then the largest dealership in Scotland. Here she learned from experienced concert-level Technicians and gained valuable insight into the many facets of a successful Piano dealership.
After working independently, Claire continued the momentum of her professional development by joining Yamaha UK, earning the Master Piano Technician qualification from the renowned Yamaha Piano Technical Academy, Japan.
Claire was fortunate enough to train at the Bösendorfer factory in Weiner Neustadt, Austria learning directly from Bösendorfer Artisan Technicians.
THOMAS MARSHALL
Thomas trained at Newark Piano School before beginning a piano tuning business in Paris. Thomas moved back to the UK to continue his professional development with Yamaha UK.
Over a 14-year career with Yamaha, Thomas progressed to the role of Head Technician. During this time, he travelled to Japan to develop his skills at the Yamaha Piano Technical Academy, including the completion of the prestigious Concert Course, preparing him to work with professional artists for recording and concert work.
